As usual points will be awarded to panthers taking part in any of the above races.
Something along the lines of 10 for 1st panther, 9 for 2nd etc. the more point you accumulate the more chance of winning a fabulous prize!!!!
We normally count your best 6 scores out of the 10 races. So you don't have to do them all!

JAN 10th (Sun)- Cross Country no 4 - 11am at Runcorn. Meet at Parbold shops at 9.30am.
JAN 16th (Sat) - Ashurst Beacon Fell race - 12.30 at Prince William Pub at top of Beacon.
JAN 31st (Sun) - Cross Country no 5 - 11am at Walton Park, Liverpool.

FEB 13th (Sat) - the 40th PARBOLD HILL RACE - starts 2pm from Farmers Arms, Hilldale.
FEB 21st (Sun) - Cross Country no 6 - 11am at Birchwood Forrest Park, Warrington.

CROSS COUNTRY ARROW PARK 5th Dec 09

Only 3 Panthers braved the mud for this 3rd race of the series. To be fair lots of abologies had been made due to prior engagements, but a big thanks to our newbee Caroline for making up the team. The mud wasn't quite as horrendous as it had been at Ashurst beacon but it was still pretty bad. WE came a very creditable 4th team having a very close race with Skem Boundary and Liverpool running club.

A brilliant turn out of Panthers to this tough cross country race and it was at its muddiest, gloopiest best or should I say worst.There were times when it was impossible to stay upright (well for me anyway)and there were definitely times when my legs were doing all the actions of running but I just wasn't getting anywhere.It would be an understatement to say the conditions under foot were a little difficult.

Thankyou and well done Team Panthers Liz, Paula G, Fiona J, Sally, Clare, Joady, Caroline, Keely and Yvonne. Everyone ran their socks off including 2 very brave newbies, Caroline and Joady. I hope we haven't put you off forever I know it was a very hard race -but anything should seem easy now!

BUTTY DUTY! Thanks also from everyone for the brilliant butties made by panthers. This is very much a joint effort with Skem Boundary and they really appreciate our help with this.

Our efforts were well rewarded with a brilliant team 2nd place(out of 8 teams)

NEXT XC RACE 6th Dec 11.30 Arrow Park.more details to follow nearer the time.

We still need a team of 3 but more is always great, there was a real buzz to todays event and apart from it being a bit hilly and muddy everyone seemed really chuffed afterwards.Well done Pink Panthers only 4 more races to go.

A little note about cross country,

You may not think cross country is not for you, but please read on;-

If you like running with other people and having a laugh,

If you don't mind getting a little bit muddy,

If you can run 5 miles.

If you don't mind a few hills.

If you want to put on your pink vest and just have a go then DO

The cross country races are open to ALL our members and there is a wide range of abilities taking part. WE REALLY NEED AT LEAST 3 RUNNERS PER RACE TO HAVE A CHANCE OF IMPROVING ON OUR 4^th PLACE LAST YEAR. If you can do any of the following races then please let Paula know – tel 0792 088 7619

ARRANGEMENTS we tend to meet at the shops at about 9am and go together in 1 or 2 cars so there is no worries about finding your way. THE CLUB PAYS FOR YOUR ENTRY so they are FREE! And you get FREE butties and biscuits at the end – what more could you want!

TEAM PANTHERS HIT NEWCASTLE
(WITH A FEW EXTRAS - CAN YOU SPOT THE ROGUE PANTHERS?

After months of hard training Diane & Nicki let it all s lide on the night before the big run!deciding this was the way to go Ann Gregory quickly followed suit.

Fortunately the rest of the Pink Panthers remained focused on the task in hand and continued with their serious pre-race preparation;-

I have to admit painting my nails has ever been part of my training plan before, but this is obviously the vital ingredient I've missed out on as I went on to do my best time for this course the next day!

I think I speak for us all when I say it was a fabulous weekend, we all had such a good laugh and the run was quite good too (although a bit too hilly,- and definitely hillier than last year!)

I would like to say a couple of really big THANKYOU's to

ANN GREGORY for organising our places with the PERCY HEDLEY FOUNDATION, who we were raising money for. (the Percy Hedley team were brilliant at trying to put us back together at the end of the race with free massages, sandwiches and copious quantities of tea.
Also thanks to ANN for booking the restaurant where we had a lovley pre race meal.
THANKYOU to ANDY for driving the mini bus and generally looking after a bunch of histerical women!
THANKYOU to PAULA GATERELL for getting the names printed on our tops - it was brilliant to be encouraged all the way along that difficult 13 mile course. Especially the last mile which actually I think should be remeasured , because I'm sure it was more like 3!

FINALLY

WELL DONE TO EVERYONE WHO TOOK PART, there were many who were doing a half Marathon for the first time. This is a massive achievment, I'm very proud of you all - so whats it to be for the next challenge?! .....

WE WON THE LADIES TEAM PRIZE BEATING CHORLEY HARRIERS IN A VERY CLOSE FINISH

Firstly thanks to all the Pink Panther support crew, Katherine Curran, Bron & Claire Carr & family, its so nice to have familiar faces cheering us on. Thanks to Bron for the following photos;- and Claire can I just say that I'd much rather you ran and next time will you leave Martin Carr at home as I'm getting a bit fed up of being beaten by him!

I would like to say a massive well done to Becky as this was her frst attempt at this
race having only joined the Pink Panthers a few months ago - she had a brilliant run and came in only 3 seconds behind Sally Adams

Another good turn out to this race, with seasoned racers Paula Gaterell and Catherine Whitfield coming in 1st and 2nd in the Ladies massive congrats to you 2. I think that is Paulas first race win and I better watch out as she is catching me up fast!

I would also like to say a massive well done to Bron Vincent, Vicky Melling and Gail Stonehouse for taking part on what was a very wet night.

This was the first time we have taken part in this race and we put up a really good show coming 2nd Team behind a very strong (and YOUNG team - who's combined ages I'm sure didn't add up to my age!)

It was a bit hot for racing but it was lovely route of path and tracks around the park and we all got flowers at the end which was a nice touch.

THIS WAS A LOVELY ROUTE AND WOULD BE GREAT TO HAVE MORE PINK PANTHERS THERE NEXT YEAR - the race caters for all abilities the last finisher coming in at around 38min.

ps - any of you girls who did the race please feel free to add your comments to this page!

PANTHER POWER WINS AGAIN!!!!

TEAM PANTHERS are making a name for themselves having now won 3 races in less than 2 weeks - Watch out you bigger clubs! We're coming to get ya! Well we can but try.

Well done to all the girls proudly sporting pink once again.

Improved times all round on last months performance - even though it was a ridiculously hot night, meant that we put ourselves amongst the top female runners and won the 1st Female Team just beating Skem Boundary by a few points.(Sorry to our friends at Skem - but hopefully this friendly team rivalry will be good for both of us) - some photos to follow soon

Not satisfied with just winning one team prize at Grasmere we just had to go and get another one.
I think we were all a bit tired from our efforts on Sunday, well I certainly was, and Bron had every reason to be, having also completed the St Helens Race for life the night before - Paula however kept saying that she could have run faster!
But we all ran our socks off and were rewarded with the Ladies Tream Prize - thanks girls it was a great night.

The Famous Five!

We had a wonderful day out the sun was shining ( which did make it a tad hot for racing) - but it did make the mountains and lakes look at their best.This course is quite hilly but it is open to all abilities and their is also a 3 mile fun run if that sounds better. I've done this event 3 times now and it is just gorgeous, finishing in a lovely grassy field with a stream (perfect for cooling off in) and a great park for the kids to play in. We took a big picnic and lots of rugs and just had a lovely time -who is up for it next year?

Dont let the look of pain on our faces out you off these were all taken at the end of the race!

I'm very proud to say that everyone ran their socks off and put in great performances, and we were rewarded for our efforts by winning the Ladies team prize - go panthers.

WED 27th MAY

Firstly I would just like to say a massive THANKYOU to all you lovely girls who turned out for this very tough race. It was so nice to see so much pink at one of our most local events. We had a total of 7 Pink Panthers making up a very impressive 1/5 of all the ladies in the race.

This is a tough event and there were lots of nerves and OMG what am I doing here comments at the start - but amazingly everyone was smiling at the finish and we all had a lovely time in the pub after..
There are always lots of prizes at this event (they are all the same - a big box of fruit & veg) and amazingly 3 of us won prizes , Yvonne 2ndLV40, Catherine - 2nd under 40 and Claire Carr 1st LV45) but you have to be there in person to collect - they will not give them to team mates! sorry girls next time bring a woolly jumper and stay a while, I mean who wouldn't want a free cabbage and cauliflower!

As usual everyone put in 110% effort and once again Bron made the biggest improvement by knocking about 5 - 6 minutes of her time from last year. Unfortunately I seem to be going the other way and added a couple of minutes on to my time!

Sunday 17th May

Pink panthers were spotted far and wide racing literally all over the North West, starring;-

Windermere Marathon
Diane Powell & Fiona Johnson
The weather conditions were perfect for marathon running, although maybe a little windy, and Diane & Fiona cruised around the course which is incredibly hilly, with a particular nasty hill at 21miles and they both finished in style.
(approx finishing times Diane - 4Hr 50ish min & Fiona 4Hr 30min

Well done to both of you, I cycled round and that was hard enough!

Chester Half Marathon

Paula Gaterell was going for a pb in this her 2nd half msarathon and whilst having a difficult time with stomach cramps she still knocked off more than 2 min off her previous half marathon time so well done Paula - time 1hr 39m59s

Bron Vincent - entered this race as her first half marathon and did a brillient time of just over 2hrs, I,m sure Bron would be the first to admit that 6 months ago she would never believe she could even run this far. Well done Bron you are an inspiration to all of our beginner runners, and you've proved what training and determination can do - keep going.

Claire Carr - now getting experienced at this distance also had a fabulous run knocking 5 min off her pb to achieve 1hr 50m

Keely Tabenber - I think this was Keeely's 1st attempt at a half and she put in a brilliant performance to finish in just under 2 hrs.

This is a series of 4 races over the summer set in a lovely country park.
All of our girls love this event because it is a really pretty route (mostly off road trail paths)
and it is open to all abilities.

you can do one or all 4 races - its entirely up to you.

Well done to all the pink panthers who took part in this race.
Unfortunatley the organisers confused the start time (by saying the race was going to start at 11.30 and then actually started the race at 11.24!!! leaving our girls in the lurch. They all had to catch up as the race started without them! So well done to you all for catching up and doing such good times.

Sun 19th April

Well done to all you lovely pink panthers who took part in this race.
By all accounts this was a hilly 10K and not an easy run so a big congrats for getting round especially if this was your first race!
We had a fabulous turn out of 9 runners, keep it up the next race is the Rosmere Cancer womens 5k in Preston on May 4th, hopefully we will have a big pink contingent in that event too.
(Sorry I couldn't make it to the Garstang race but my legs wouldn't let me as I have a very sore calf and achillies after the Hawkshead Trail race the day before!
